The views though.
It’s 8pm over here and my friend and I are about to go to the “party” side of the island for some drinks.
Phi Phi is split up by sections, with an entire half being dedicated to partying late into the night on the beach as well as hostels , a quarter for hotels and nicer restaurants, and a quarter for a more local vibe. That’s where the cheap food is oppo. Had a dragonfruit shake, two Thai pancakes and the best phad Thai of my life. Something like $4 USD for all of it.
Going during the off-season is definitely the move. The party area is still full enough to have a good time, but it’s also easy to find your own areas without throngs of vacationers. And the weather has been amazing.
How are you doing?

My back started sweating just thinking about that. Backpacked to the bottom on Waimea Canyon with my wife and kids last summer. We had around 70% humidity. Much sweat was produced.

No elevation in Houston, but that humidity is pretty normal. Did a 5 mile run last night at dusk, and I don’t sweat a lot (comparatively), but I was drenched at the end.
Also, immensely jealous of your vacation. Great pictures.

I need an experienced soul to tell me how they avoid chaffing in... Certain areas under those conditions. It's been a killer this whole trip

I think I would eventually get used to it. It’s a bit unpleasant, but it never feels like it will kill you like dry heat.
It's been a fantastic trip. I loved Tokyo, but Thailand has seriously wormed it's eat into my heart. For the first time in my life, there's a place I'd rather live than the PNW

I think it mostly comes down to skin type and shirt material. I’ve never had an issue with 100% cotton shirts, but have experienced some with high polyester and rayon blends.

I honeymoon ed on Kauai. No way in hell I would hike that thing. It’s a hidden gem though. So amazing.

Sweating only works when the skin is exposed, but this works in those certain areas that can't be exposed for some societal reason

I think the humidity is higher back home right now, but the temperature is much lower. When it gets hot and humid here, that’s when it gets brutal, and I’m pretty sure it’s rarely this cool there . The 4+ miles a day on foot that I do at work makes it that much worse ...

That view is spectacular!

It was pretty awesome. Bit of an ass kicker coming out as a good portion of the trail I was on was just one big incline without switchbacks, but nothing too gnarley on the trail I hiked.
